OPEN HOUSE

A guided tour of this iconic building, including glimpses behind-the-scenes, an introduction to our special relationship with Peter Jones and a chance to learn all about the John Lewis Partnership ethos.

ROBIN SAIKIA

British travel writer Robin Saikia talks about his latest work, The Venice Lido, described by The Guardian as “smashing” and praised in The Spectator for “ its warmth, charm and eccentric scholarship”. Robin celebrates the rich and entertaining history of Venice's glamorous beach resort. His glittering account reveals the Lido's unique and lasting charm. Book signing.

2nd February
LANCÔME

Lancôme, who epitomise French beauty, present their latest products and demonstrate how to use their skincare range. There will be an opportunity to learn about the history of Lancôme and book treatments in the dedicated Lancôme suite. Samples to take home.
(This talk takes place in the Training Room on the 5th floor, close to the gift-wrapping desk.)

BRINGING THE FUN BACK INTO COOKING

A demonstration by the Peter Jones team showcasing the latest electrical products and kitchen gadgets designed to save time and prepare delicious, easy and innovative meals.
Samples will be given out to try.

16th February
SANDRA HOWARD

Sandra talks about the thrill of writing a first novel and having it published, which in turn has led to a whole new career. She tells us about her time as a photographic model in the 1960s, working in New York, meeting the Kennedys, Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe and other celebrities, before becoming a journalist. She will go on to discuss the story lines in her books which cover love, politics, marriage, terrorism, race and loyalty. Book signing.


8th March
THE LONDON CLINIC
Allergies: The London Clinic offers advice on the diagnosis and treatment of common allergic diseases. Professor Barry Kay MB ChB PhD FRCP DSc FRSE FMedSci Consultant Allergist talks to us about over-reactions to substances that we breathe, eat or touch in everyday life and which can cause the familiar symptoms of an allergy in susceptible people.

22nd March
THE DIGITAL SWITCH OVER
An explanation by the Peter Jones team about the end of the analogue system, in April 2012, and how to go digital. A chance to put your questions to the experts and learn about new broadcasting technology!
